A Christian speaker I once heard posed the question, “Are you a balcony person, or a basement person?”; an encourager or someone who drags others down. In my life, and I suspect many others, you are both balcony people.

Everyone wants to feel as if they are valued. So I have tried to give back by being an encourager. It may be by sending a card or note or letter. When I get professional or exceptional service I let them know. Then I go that extra mile to seek out the boss to inform them of the positive experience I just had. But sometimes it is even in a small way, like talking to an elderly gentleman scrubbing the sidewalk ( on his hands and knees) in front of the Walmart. He just brightened up and chatted back, as I told him what a good job he was doing and how I'm sure his boss appreciated his wonderful work ethic. You never know whose life you might touch. And in turn we must be open to receive the blessings that are sent our way.
