Thanks Linda. I don't feel particularly vulnerable sharing what happened to me. I'll tell you where I felt vulnerable. It's when I began to think that God knew everything about me, including all my secrets. At that point, he had my attention.
Very interesting story. My family was Methodist but I attended a Presbyterian Church for many years since there was no Methodist Church where we lived. Both recited the Apostles’ Creed every Sunday, and I wondered if every person believed the words they were saying. I’m a Baptist now, and the Creed isn’t recited, but I frequently think about it.
Whether it’s the Apostles’ Creed or the twelve steps of recovery, I believe we walk into them. The more we sit and ponder the more our eyes adjust to the light. They are the sorts of things that reveal more to us about life, truth, reality, love, and who we are over time. We only believe them to the extent we can, and God’s grace covers the rest. And all of it is found in abundance in every church that teaches God’s Word.
Everyone's faith story is different. It takes courage to share on such a vulnerable level. You never know whose life you might touch.
But God does.
