I love your post here Ben. It’s a catch 22. When I refuse to be complacent about a horrible situation (for example, a three- year battle with a neighbor who starved his horses) then I’m meddling in someone else’s business, or “you can’t save the world” comments come up. I can’t look away. I feel compelled to act when it involves someone or something that is helpless. Sometimes it ends well. Sometimes it doesn’t. Initiating change is a monumental task but it has to start somewhere.

I completely agree. What I would say is that we each individually have proximity to real battles. Those are the ones we are to take on regardless the outcomes. All the rest is for prayer. Prayer is actually an important habit because it helps us define our battles. We can’t solve everything but we can do something and over time as we change our areas of effectiveness and responsibility change. Those concerns outside our areas of influence we give back to God. Those we are called into battle over we ask God for courage and wisdom and then we keep moving forward. Thanks for your wonderful response.
