In my opinion people who live mainly in the digital universe eventually lose their sense of reality, morality, and integrity because they become desensitized to what it means to be a human being created in the image of their Creator.

I agree with you Nancy, but this is just one of today's most popular means of desensitization. And relative to my current statement about significance, insignificance, and togetherness, I would say that desensitization is when we begin to see ourselves special or unique compared with others (I am special, others are insignificant, and I don't have anything in common with others). In video games, the controller (the one playing the game) has god-like powers over the digital environment and can shoot aliens or people and be rewarded by the feedback of the program with lights, sounds, and some sort of scoring method. If this translates to human to human interactions in negative ways, we have a problem. But there is another way this is a problem -- when people choose to play games, or watch movies, or pornography rather than having human interactions, it results in a subtle corruption of the fabric of society. Addictions do the same thing.
