You Raise Me Up
Originally composed by the duo "Secret Garden" Lyrics: Irish novelist Brendan Graham. Album: Once in a Red Moon, 2001
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary When troubles come and my heart burdened be Then, I am still and wait here in the silence Until you come and sit awhile with me You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas I am strong, when I am on your shoulders You raise me up... To more than I can be You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas I am strong, when I am on your shoulders You raise me up... To more than I can be You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas I am strong, when I am on your shoulders You raise me up... To more than I can be You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas I am strong, when I am on your shoulders You raise me up... To more than I can be You raise me up... To more than I can be If the melody of this song doesn’t come immediately into your head then I suggest you take the time to find it and listen. It’s really a description of the still point effect. We come powerless, weak, and dejected to sit awhile. In our vulnerable state God raises us up to be more than we can imagine. I absolutely love this song and the melody came flooding back to me right away. My favorite version is by opera singer Donald Braswell. But yes I have felt many times over the years that the Lord has lifted me up above my circumstances. But with my recent cancer diagnosis, I have felt his presence and definitely that peace that passes all understanding.
I don’t know this song but will find it! The lyrics are comforting and inspiring. We all need to remember how our Lord loves us.
