The Religious Foundation of our Secular Education
There may be a separation of church and state, but not all religions come out of churches.
Sometimes the behavior of those elected or appointed into positions of power is breathtakingly stupid.
Logical mature people would never do even a fraction of what we are seeing with regard to protecting the lives and property of this nation’s citizenry.
Because these people, as a group, are not stupid, the motivations behind their behavior are not due to stupidity, but something else.
I believe it comes out of a warped religious ideology. And as a society, we have done this to ourselves by allowing a religious minority to takeover the institutions of education.
The removal of norms, initially and especially those that judge the universally childish proclivities toward raunchy behavior occurs throughout society when instruction on how best to behave is removed from school curricula with a threat of punishment of teachers if they oppose the established secular dogma of their superiors.
It is a distortion of the concept of freedom and liberty within a constitutional republic like our own to say that it means anything goes. And it is a usurpation of the rights and responsibilities of parents to permit children to get away with undisciplined behavior at school when it is not taught or tolerated at home.
And when it is taught or tolerated at home it is evidence of the fact that poor education has been entrenched now for generations.
Unless educational institutions are brought back to a sane understanding of what behavior is acceptable and what is not, they should be closed and replaced by new ones where mature adults are placed in charge.
The best learning environment is a safe one. And if we as a society believe children are more precious than money, schools should at least be as safe as banks.
Anti-religious zealots currently are in charge of public education from the top down. Those who believe that religion is equivalent to ignorance and that enlightenment comes by discarding the handed down best traditions and teachings of innumerable generations who made possible our opportunities to live wonderful lives today, should be fired for they offer nothing better than short term gratification with long term regret and suffering.
As for the entrenched educators themselves, follow the money.
They have found an easy way to amass wealth, power, and personal security through things like tenure along with public and private grants.
Hear, my son, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many.
I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness.
When you walk, your step will not be hampered, and if you run, you will not stumble.
Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.
Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of the evil.
Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on.
For they cannot sleep unless they have done wrong; they are robbed of sleep unless they have made someone stumble.
For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.
But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.
The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.
Excellent commentary on such an important topic.
