I believe we are at war. And by “we” I mean humanity. This isn’t esoteric but a real life and death war.
The problem with this one is that it isn’t clear what the two opposing sides are and what the battle is all about.
This of course is a huge problem and also by design - not in the conspiratorial sense - where those opposing the good guys (yes, I believe there is a good and right side to be on) know they are doing wrong. It isn’t that easy.
Now it will take me some time to flesh out my ideas which is actually a good thing, because it means we have the opportunity for dialogue here.
For this post let me leave you this.
Our battle lines are not national, religious, or political. In other words if we divide the world by any of these systems of belief we will not see what is clearly going on and what we must do about it. When this happens it is possible to harm friends and aid enemies without knowing it.
Certainly, because this conflict is difficult to describe it makes it tempting to believe it isn’t really happening.
But then why are healthy people around the world dying at greater numbers than just a few years ago?
Why is the economy moving toward depression globally?
And why does it seem so many national leaders are turning against their people?
And these are just a few of the disturbing questions that point to something bigger and yet hidden; something difficult to define.
Now here is my theory - and please push back if you have a different idea.
I believe this is a conflict over the whether or not humanity — mankind — the human species - is inherently precious, valuable, even sacred, or not.
Stay tuned . . .
Ben, I think it is also a conflict over the idea that some lives have more value than others. As in Orwell’s “Animal Farm”, “All animals are equal; but some animals are more equal than others.” We have devolved to a culture that actually thinks this is true, or that human life is simply a commodity.
