This, as everyone everywhere in media is proclaiming, is the most historic election result at least of our lifetimes — if not in the history of elections ever.
It does seem historic and profound, but it will take time to synthesize it down to comprehensible and useful lessons to move us along as a nation and world.
Part of the problem with attempting to explain what really happened has to do with where we begin our analysis.
Those with a God-centric worldview will see things completely differently from those who approach it strictly from politics or economics.
So books will come out attempting to explain it and most, if not all, will fall short.
Some will believe that this is the day when dark gave way to light.
Others will see it exactly opposite.
Neither can possibly be correct, and yet there is an opportunity to sell books and make movies, so I for one expect this to be recounted in ways similar to 9/11, Butler PA, Pearl Harbor and D-Day.
As the dust settles, I will try to focus on taking each day one step at a time and seeking to do the next good and reasonable action that presents itself before me.
I will try to remember to be grateful for life itself and the opportunity it provides me to love those around me — regardless how they voted.
