When I think about sharing my story with others formally, that is, give a talk, this is what goes through my mind.
You only have so much time.
On the surface, it’s about you, but it’s really not about you.
What is the most important thing you can share for the benefit of others?
I am of the unoriginal opinion that you too must think through your story in order to share the hope that is inside of you for those who ask. So, here is a question I offer for your consideration.
Who is the most important person to hear your story?
It isn’t God, he already knows it better than you.
The answer is Yourself.
Why do I say this?
Here’s why.
Don’t you need encouragement?
Don’t you need reminders about how God came to you? About how you messed up and he still loved you?
Aren’t these important reminders when you are facing giants today?
Of course that can’t be everyone’s story just yet.
To be able to stand against hidden forces trying to pull you down requires an encounter with more than a god-concept or indescribable tingly feeling. It requires an encounter with the living God. You may not have a physical encounter, but put on your God-is-Real-Glasses and start looking for his distinct movements in your life. When you find him that will be where your testimony turns it’s biggest corner.
I’m thinking of playing this song at the beginning of my presentation. What do you think?
Good morning Ben. I just commented and then accidentally deleted it so I apologize for the notification that you received. I had written that it was a beautiful way to start any day with an acoustic guitar, a sweet tenor, and a beautiful message such as this song. You have a way of drawing people in with your presentations. It's a gift I suppose (or maybe you just practice a lot) but I do know that I always feel better after talking with you or listening to something you have to say. Come to the defense of your own talent.
Yes. I think it would be a great beginning to
your testimony.
