Healthy attitudes are contentment, peace, acceptance and love.
Unhealthy attitudes are greed, envy, and jealousy.
I believe working out of healthy attitudes is more productive than working out of unhealthy ones. This sounds right when spoken but it is easier, from a worldly perspective, to motivate and be motivated by operating from a place of dissatisfaction.
Contented satiated people lack a fire in the belly — unless they have received a calling on their lives. I believe we all are called but only a few of us respond. But to be clear, it is a blessing from God to respond.
It is the mysterious calling on someone’s life that enables them to peacefully pursue even the most difficult and challenging goals imaginable. This is because it is no longer about them and it is no longer in their own strength. When this happens then their attitude is one of gratitude and they are constantly excited wondering what God is going to do next through them.
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21
