Music, Love and Reality
All my life I have listened to love songs. Syrupy, sentimental, nostalgic love songs. You done me wrong, I’ve done you wrong, it was good while it lasted, what was I/you/we thinking, I’d do it again, no I wouldn’t, okay I might, because when the lights go down and the music comes on, and I look into your deep brown/blue/hazel eyes, baby you’re the whole world, or you were the whole world, or you might have been the whole world, or maybe at least a small continent, or polar icecap, so you know, we should get back together, or never do that again, because with, or without you, I’ve lost my rhythm, or a fortune, or my shaker of salt.
It’s hard to detach from those songs we listened to when we were going through puberty, when life was great or heart crushing, and our entire lives hinged on whether someone thought we were cute or a dork.
So why am I bringing this up now?
Do you have any idea how many hours you have listened to music on the radio, through headphones or online?
Do you think it didn’t affect your thinking or how you have related with others?
Starting tomorrow and then periodically from now on, I will post song lyrics for you to simply read. No fanfare. No comments from me. If you wish to comment, feel free on the community chat.
