When I am impatient, in the context of relationships, it is because I believe I know something. And whatever it is I believe I know, it is really really important. So important that I have no time to deal with the fact you know things too, and that you likely believe about what you know in the same intense way I believe about what I know.
Impatience leads me to believe that all choices in this world are binary.
Either we go my way or your way.
If you are right then, by default, I am automatically as wrong as wrong can be.
Right or left.
Black or white.
Up or down.
No other options - except for one.
The usually unconsidered option is to sit and breath.
Take the pause.
Stop.
Wait.
Don’t push.
Relax.
Easy does it.
This too shall pass.
So, don’t pet the gorilla.
Take the time to reflect on what you are thankful for, to include those frustrating characters who evidently push your buttons. And remember, love is patient.
