He certainly lived a human life, but there was more to it than this.
He said so himself.
And if any other man said the things he said (and some have tried) we would not venerate them today. In fact we would fear them, believing them mad.
Jesus has a nature I do not have and unless I understand and acknowledge this, nothing about his words or life hold anything of value for me.
It feels sort of hit and miss, doesn’t it?
I either get it or miss it.
He is either no more important to me as any stranger or dead famous person, or he is central to life itself.
No rational middle ground exists I think.
Either he rules me and I follow his teachings and instructions or I am in charge and call the shots.
Either I worship him or I use him to make me look holy or righteous when what I truly am is a religious fraud.
