As many of you know, on Wednesdays I try to put out the lyrics to a song. Some of these songs are silly, but might have had an influence on a few of us in our younger years. Others just have some great thoughts and I like the arrangements.
Looking ahead, I have written some posts that contain music which might mess with my initial Music-Wednesday idea. Nothing, it seems, turns out as planned. (More about this tomorrow).
Today’s selection was originally planned for Easter Sunday, but I really think with all that is going on in our world today, we can use it’s message now.
For some, this might be too religious, and I understand so let me share with you something about the readership here you might not know. You see, I have an affection and affiliation for two groups who, interestingly, have much in common between them and yet, as it turns out, do not mix that well with each other. There are good reasons for this, and I will get into this in the future when I think the time is right. The two groups are (1) the Christian Church (not focusing on denominational differences here) and (2) the Recovery Community (Twelve-Step Programs).
Regardless your understanding or either or both of these fellowships, my purpose is to point us all to the place where recovery and spiritual maturity happen — at the still point of the turning world. So if something I post seems not to be speaking directly to you, understand, it is still speaking indirectly to you. Keep reading and reflecting.
And now, today’s lyrics.
It's hard to see the storm blowing over anytime soon It's hard to hear any hope in the headlines or how to know what's true We've been trusting in the broken to make us whole But there's no new rescue coming, it's still the one we've always known We need the healer We don't need another hero We need the healer Deep down every hurting heart knows We need the healer And only Jesus is the healer The whole world's looking for something but what we need is someone (Need is someone) And every road leads back to one name when all the searching is done 'Cause there's no world view, no religion, that can make the blind eyes see Let the eyes of our heart be opened to the healing that we need We need the healer We don't need another hero We need the healer Deep down every hurting heart knows We need the healer And only Jesus is the healer (You're the healer) More than comfort, we need the king More than gifts, we need the giver More than blessings, we need Your presence More than the healing, we need the healer More than comfort, we need the king More than gifts, we need the giver More than blessings, we need Your presence More than the healing, we need the healer More than comfort, we need the king More than gifts, we need the giver More than blessings, we need Your presence More than the healing We need the healer We don't need another hero We need the healer Deep down every hurting heart knows We need the healer 'Cause only Jesus is the healer Yes, we need the, yes, we need the healer (We need the healer) No other name but Jesus is the healer (Yes, we need the healer) Come now Jesus, be the healer The healer
Powerful words of truth for today's hurting world and tomorrow and always.
