True depression is a chemical imbalance and yet, because it deals with the mind, which is what projects the personality to ourselves and others, it is easy to buy the lies of shame.
Recovery is found by doing the most frightening thing of all - being honest and real with a few good friends.
Domestic abuse is a similar problem. It results in isolation which then builds shame and embarrassment. Again, to recover requires building the courage necessary to talk privately with a few who can help.
I would never have considered checking out a recovery meeting had I not been invited by a friend who told me he would meet me there.
Thanks Ben. This is so true.
