If you have read some of my previous posts on love, you have read me often state that we cannot manufacture love within ourselves and that love is actually a divine attribute of God. He gives it freely to us so we can give it freely to others.

God started the process of loving us by first creating a beautiful world and then placing mankind in it. Then he set up a way of saving us from our rebellion through Jesus being born to live among us and then going to a cross to die in our place.

In response to God’s sacrificial love, those who understand and accepted his invitation are then called to love others, even enemies, in his name.

So it’s fitting to love those special people in our lives, but it is also fitting to pause a moment and think about God’s love - the source of it all.
