If something is true then there should be no fear in declaring it so.
But when the objective is no longer the pursuit of truth, and instead is to force consensus, then calm discussions end and intellectual growth stops.
Somewhere along the line, within our Representative Republic, many in both elected and appointed power positions, decided it was a good idea to manipulate messages in their own favor, not for the common good. They do this in a bullying way by promoting one side while completely eliminating all others. I grew up thinking censorship was wrong, and that free speech included speech I might find offensive. I think it is an American thing, so there is some cognitive dissonance when this behavior is pushed by those in government positions.
We have been told this censorship at this time is for our own good. There are now many things we are instructed not to talk about — and words we cannot use — like man, woman, husband, and wife. The expressed concern is that we might trigger someone. We are allowed to express our opinion as long as it doesn’t make anyone feel uncomfortable.
Let me just speak the truth here as I see it. This has all the markings of a psychological operation (psyop); a method of mental manipulation designed to evade questions of motive. It is a way of manipulating common-sense oriented people in order to push them toward agreeing to things not in their or their family’s best interest.
This tactic to control free speech is both silly and unloving.
Personally, please risk hurting my feelings and tell me what you really think. In what better way can we grow out of our ignorance and ever possibly find common ground?
Don’t buy into the lie that science is ever settled. This goes for politics and religion as well.
The Bottom Line
I think it’s time to stop accepting foolish rules taught by woke professors and elitist politicians and return to the plain common sense the vast majority of us grew up with.
Furthermore, it’s not so much my attempting to get others to change. It is disciplining myself, as God directs and empowers, to accept the uncomfortable feelings that inevitably come from swimming against the world’s strong narrative tides.
Well put Ben; and I agree!
