The reason dogmas are rarely questioned is because so many life-assumptions are sitting on top of them, and these will be disrupted as well should the dogma be disproved.
I have gone along with all the dogmas mentioned in the TED Talk presented here by Rupert Sheldrake PhD. Interesting to me is that this one was taken down and essentially hidden from the general view a few months after it was presented because it offended a couple of materialists.

Finally, it is not necessary to agree with any or all of the positions people hold. What is important, I believe, is to be able to consider all reasonable (and even unreasonable) theories about how the world operates, and also, it is good to develop a better appreciation of where our blind spots might be. Humility in science is a good thing.
