It’s funny that the ones who doubt God’s existence are most likely to want to take his place themselves.
A corollary to this is the observation that many people with a high IQ believe they understand how the world works intuitively.
They therefore must reject the idea that in many areas of life they are completely clueless.
And like all humans who, after all, are social creatures, will seek the company and feel most comfortable associating with likeminded people.
And when they do, what do they form?
To this particular class of people the idea of God is a cop out, so they won’t form a church in the same way those who believe in God will. And yet whatever they form will elevate themselves as their deity — at least outwardly. From my perspective, this means they will welcome at power that is the opposite of God and all his attributes.
They set themselves up for committing or endorsing acts of evil. And because they believe they are smart enough to get away with whatever it is they want to do that will harm others they will ultimately reveal their true nature.
Whenever you see someone you know to be smart do dumb things, consider that its cause might be due, ultimately, with their choice to dismiss God as a dumb idea.
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
