Blame
If life were easy we could know who to blame for everything.
It isn’t even clear when we think it is.
The nightly news even gets it wrong, which means that should they have someone who they believe is to blame, there is probably another side worth considering.
But even that might not be enough.
So what should you and I do if all of this happening around us is uncertain and unclear?
Most blaming is reflex response. It can be a form of habitual lying.
When small we are quick to deflect blame from ourselves in order to avoid the perceived (often true) threat of punishment. I remember lying about things as a kid so quickly that had I thought about it I would have seen it was unnecessary. Plus, quick lies are often incriminating ones. Sometimes this rolls into white lies - those lies that seem to keep others happier with fewer complications. All of it. If we are honest, which admittedly is at times harder than it looks, is all about our own comfort.
This is why True Love rejects lies as well as blaming.
When the temptation to blame arises, consider practicing silence instead.
