Children automatically thirst to learn that information critical to enabling them to socialize with others. They want and need to be oriented to the world as it actually exists. Bad education, on the other hand, teaches them that there is little to no good possibility of living good productive relevant lives. Bad education promotes fantasy and victimhood over learning to think clearly and develop practical skills.
So what is this shared reality children must learn to have happy prosperous lives?
How about mathematics, language, literature, science, social skills of etiquette and respect for others as well as for themselves?
How about physical education and music – both frequently dropped by schools these days?
And how about history – the good and the bad, fairly explained to the level of the child’s mental capacity to understand?
And what about sex education? When did this become important outside the child’s home and family structure? And when did it become a critical part of preschool? Sex education taught badly and at the wrong age level can rob children from enjoying a time of innocence necessary for their healthy development into mature responsible future parents for the generation coming after them.
It's interesting that schools of today are opposed to teaching religious beliefs but have no problem teaching secular beliefs that oppose to cultural norms that grow out of religious beliefs.
Bad teaching does not develop the intellect or critical thinking skills. Instead, these are being replaced by rote acceptance to current educational dogma. It is as if there is a group of people who do not want future generations to be adequately educated so they would be able to manage their own lives without help from an elite few. Perhaps, too much education of the masses is a threat to this elite’s perceived societal importance.
And might the excess use of entertainment be a part of a general plan to dumb down the world? One of the smartest things parents can do to love their children well today is to limit their time in front of big and little screens.
And what about we adults? Might the excess use of entertainment be working in our own lives to keep us from thinking more clearly?
Amen!!! Just another example of the often quoted words “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Parents must take back control of the school boards; and we as a society must stop supporting bad entertainment. However, in reality, I am afraid Pandora’s box was opened long ago, and there is only One who can ever overcome the evil it has released.
Very well said.
