When it comes to my faith in God the operative word is humility because the way I understand the gospel is that Jesus paid the price for me. All I can do is accept it and be grateful. Certainly true gratitude spills over into life, but any resulting actions do not displace the fact that salvation is a complete gift I must either humbly accept or pridefully reject.
When it came to my opportunity to serve in the United States military the operative word was and still is honor. I was fortunate to be born a citizen of the greatest country in history, not because the people are special because they are not, but because the founding documents upon which the nation was formed and should be governed are profoundly important and can aid in the development of good and grounded people.
Why?
Because they provide millions the opportunity to live in freedom from the tyranny of a ruling class - and what protects these documents, namely the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution with its Bill of Rights, is the military.
You see, liberty comes with a price and requires the sacrifice of a brave few willing to stand between it and chaos. It is the role of the United States military where every member swears an oath to the Constitution to protect it from all enemies foreign and domestic, to hold the line. And they proudly do so in the spirit of those patriots who fought and died before them.
Sadly, over the past few years I have come to understand that our military is under attack from within by an elitist flag-officer class with a Marxist ideology intended to supplant the founding documents. They of course are joined by many in academia (where they no doubt learned it), government and corporations. Marxism basically believes that average citizens should have inalienable rights, powers, and that they lack the intelligence to manage their own lives. Marxists do not believe in God but they will pay lip service if it will serve their hidden plans for ultimate control of the masses. Sadly it seems that this small group controls most of the levers of worldly power today.
Fortunately we in the United States still have elections so it is my fervent hope and prayer that this will peacefully be corrected as brave citizens stand for the America our ancestors gave us. At the same time we must have the courage to stand against the tyranny of all globalists and dictators who wish to destroy it and us.
The instability of the world, including our personal lives, no matter how insulated and protected we once thought we were, brings me back to my first thought in today’s post.
I believe as we, as a Nation along with freedom-loving God-fearing believers around the world, humble ourselves and pray that God will see us through this.
And even if it all gets worse not better it is good to remember that He is still on his throne.
Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against his Anointed, saying,
“Let us burst their bonds apartand cast away their cords from us.”
He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.
Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying,
“As for me, I have set my King on Zion, my holy hill.”
I will tell of the decree:
The LORD said to me, “You are my Son; today I have begotten you.
Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, for his wrath is quickly kindled.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
My prayer as well…
